About Us

James Stahling, Principal Environmental Geologist with Stahling Environmental Services, began his career over 30 years ago as a wellsite geologist on offshore oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. His knowledge of petroleum led him to the field of petroleum release assessments and remediation of underground storage tanks through the enactment by the Federal Government of the regulations for the cleanup of petroleum underground storage tank sites. His experience with petroleum spills includes a 2010 return visit to the Gulf of Mexico, this time to help with the cleanup efforts related to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
In addition to petroleum sites, he has focused on environmental due diligence for properties that are undergoing real estate transactions, including the performance of Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, Brownfields assessments and environmental liability transfers. Working with property owners, developers, attorneys, and other stakeholders, he has used his knowledge of subsurface contaminants to identify and remedy environmental issues at residential, commercial, industrial, and governmental sites
