Brownfields

A brownfields site is any real property that is abandoned, idled, or underutilized, and where environmental contamination, or perceived environmental contamination, hinders redevelopment. The hindrance comes from the fact that it is very difficult to obtain loans for redevelopment on these properties because they come with potential environmental cleanup liability. Brownfields properties are properties where the developer enters into a brownfields agreement with the applicable brownfield state agency.

We provide services to facilitate the brownfields agreement. This may include an assessment and remediation of impacted soil and groundwater on the property, indoor air quality sampling and vapor intrusion mitigation, and the design and implementation of engineering controls and land use restrictions.
